Exodus 20:5

5 aYou shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am ba jealous God, cvisiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,

Psalms 109:9-31

9May his dchildren be fatherless
and his wife a widow!
10May his children ewander about and beg,
fseeking food far from the ruins they inhabit!
11May gthe creditor seize all that he has;
may hstrangers plunder the fruits of his toil!
12Let there be none to iextend kindness to him,
nor any to jpity his fatherless children!
13May his kposterity be cut off;
may his lname be blotted out in the second generation!
14May mthe iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord,
and let not the sin of his mother be nblotted out!
15 oLet them be before the Lord continually,
that he may pcut off the memory of them from the earth!
16 For he did not remember to show kindness,
but pursued qthe poor and needy
and rthe brokenhearted, to put them to death.
17 sHe loved to curse; let curses come
Revocalization; Masoretic Text curses have come
upon him!
He did not delight in blessing; may it be far
Revocalization; Masoretic Text it is far
from him!
18He vclothed himself with cursing as his coat;
may it wsoak
Revocalization; Masoretic Text it has soaked
into his body like water,
like oil into his bones!
19May it be like a garment that he wraps around him,
like a belt that he puts on every day!
20May this be the reward of my yaccusers from the Lord,
of those who speak evil against my life!
21 But you, O God my Lord,
deal on my behalf zfor your name’s sake;
because your aasteadfast love is good, deliver me!
22For I am abpoor and needy,
and my heart is stricken within me.
23I am gone like aca shadow at evening;
I am adshaken off like a locust.
24My knees are weak aethrough fasting;
my afbody has become gaunt, with no fat.
25I am agan object of scorn to my accusers;
when they see me, they ahwag their heads.
26 aiHelp me, O Lord my God!
Save me according to your steadfast love!
27Let them ajknow that this is your hand;
you, O Lord, have done it!
28 akLet them curse, but you will bless!
They arise and are put to shame, but alyour servant will be glad!
29May my accusers be amclothed with dishonor;
may they anbe wrapped in their own shame as in a cloak!
30 With my mouth I will give great thanks to the Lord;
I will aopraise him in the midst of the throng.
31For he stands apat the right hand of the needy one,
to save him from those who condemn his soul to death.

aqbecause of the guilt of their fathers,
lest they rise and possess the earth,
and fill the face of the world with cities.”

Ezekiel 18:19-20

19“Yet you say, arWhy should not the son suffer for the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done aswhat is just and right, and has been careful to observe all my statutes, athe shall surely live. 20 auThe soul who sins shall die. avThe son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. awThe righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, axand the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

Matthew 23:31-35

31Thus you witness against yourselves that you are aysons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 azFill up, then, the measure of your fathers. 33You serpents, bayou brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to bbhell? 34 bcTherefore bdI send you beprophets and wise men and bfscribes, bgsome of whom you will kill and crucify, and bhsome you will biflog in your synagogues and bjpersecute from town to town, 35so that on you may come all bkthe righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous blAbel to the blood of bmZechariah the son of Barachiah,
Some manuscripts omit  the son of Barachiah
whom you murdered between bothe sanctuary and bpthe altar.
